Tomoya Aki ist ein Otaku, wie man ihn sich vorstellt: Regale voller Light Novels, stapelweise Dating Sims und seine Antwort auf die Frage »2D- oder 3D-Mädchen?« kann man sich schon denken. Während seinen ersten Frühlingsferien an der Oberschule hat er eines Tages eine schicksalhafte Begegnung, wie sie im Buche steht: Auf dem Gipfel eines Hügels steht ein wunderschönes Mädchen im Kleid, anmutig umweht von Kirschblüten – die perfekte Heldin.

Prompt inspiriert ihn dieses Ereignis, seine eigene Visual Novel zu entwerfen, in der dieses Mädchen das Vorbild für die Hauptheldin werden soll. Aber weil Tomoya keinerlei Erfahrung in der Spieleentwicklung hat, bittet er direkt am ersten Schultag nach den Ferien das Ass des Kunstklubs und langjährige Doujin-Zeichnerin Eriri Spencer Sawamura sowie die Musterschülerin und aufstrebende Autorin Utaha Kasumigaoka, ihn bei seinem Vorhaben mit ihren Fähigkeiten zu unterstützen.

Doch noch eine weitere Person muss überredet werden, an Bord zu kommen, denn wie es der Zufall so will, heißt Tomoyas Traumheldin aus seiner Begegnung in Wahrheit Megumi Katou und geht bereits seit einem Jahr in seine Klasse. Allerdings entspricht sie bei weitem nicht seiner Vorstellungen einer Titelheldin, sondern ist eine ganz gewöhnliche, nahezu langweilige Oberschülerin. Sein Ziel ist klar: Megumi zu einer richtigen Visual-Novel-Heldin zu machen und ein Spiel zu produzieren, das beim international bekannten Comiket ein Top-Seller wird!
