Aoi und Hinata sind Jugendliche mit sehr unterschiedlichen Interessen und seit ihrer frühen Kindheit Freundinnen. Während Hinata die Berge und die Natur liebt, leidet Aoi unter Höhenangst und bleibt am liebsten im Inneren. Doch das war nicht immer so, denn in ihrer Kindheit kletterten sie noch gemeinsam, bis Aoi eines Tages einen furchtbaren Unfall hatte, der sie bis heute traumatisiert hat. Nichtsdestoweniger beschließen sie, nachdem sie nach Jahren wieder aufeinandertreffen, wieder gemeinsam einen Berg zu erklimmen, um von seinem Gipfel noch einmal die Morgensonne zu sehen – so wie sie es schon einmal getan haben, als sie noch jünger waren.
